Procedures for Joining

FULL AND INTERMEDIATE PLAYING MEMBERSHIP

Proposing a Candidate

A candidate should be proposed and seconded by members of at least three years standing. A proposer and seconder must have known the candidate personally for at least three and two years respectively. If a candidate does not know any current members of the Club, it is possible that they may be supported by the Committee.

Handicap Requirements

All candidates must hold a handicap index through England Golf of 26.9 or less for men and 31.6 or less for ladies before being added to the waiting pool for membership.  A handicap index must be registered with England Golf, either at another Club or through iGolf (https://englandigolf.co.uk)

Application

Candidates or their proposer should complete a Membership Application form (obtainable from the Club’s Secretary). The proposer and seconder should both write letters of recommendation and submit these with the form to the Secretary.

Additional steps

The Chair of the Membership Sub-Committee will invite the applicant for interview, and following this, candidates are invited to be “played-in” by two members of the Management Committee.  If this proves satisfactory, the candidate, together with the proposer or seconder are invited to drinks with members of the Committee.

Successful applicants will be notified by the Membership Chair and after payment of the relevant sums and a short introductory briefing with the Secretary, membership usually starts on the first day of the month following the Committee meeting.
